Adding Your Make on MakeOutdoorGear.com

Hi maker of outdoor gear, we're pleased to have you on board. In just a few simple steps, you can add your guide to making a particular piece of gear from scratch or your individual improvement and small tutorial to making an amendment to gear you already own.

Once you have registered, which should only take a minute and remember to check your spam box when looking at your emails for the verification, you simply click, add content in the sidebar.

Here you will several options, it doesn't matter if you are creating outdoor gear from scratch, or you are improving gear you own with a small amendment, click the type of gear you wish to make a page for. For instance, if you are creating a backpack from scratch, choose Create Packs and if you are creating just extra straps to add to a backpack, you will also choose Create Packs.

It is within this node creation you will see a little checkbox called Improvement, by ticking this, you are stating that it is just a small guide on improving a section or part of a bigger piece of gear. If you leave it unchecked, it will mean you are creating a full piece of gear/equipment from scratch.

You can also add:

  • Accessories
  • Clothing
  • Cooking
  • Shelters
  • Sleep Systems

In the future, we will expand these types of gear but this should hopefully suffice for now, if it doesn't and you want to showcase some outdoor gear that does not fit in to any of these categories, please contact us and we will get it added to the site asap.

Once you have added your new page, it will be sat in a moderation queue and will be seen to asap, usually within an hour of being saved by yourself. We will publish your make and it will then be live on the site to be searched for and filtered. You should also see it on the home page as the latest make to be added.

If you have any other ideas for the site to help improve it and think we're missing some information out or you're having problems, please contact us, we're always aiming to improve the user experience and ease of finding and creating outdoor gear makes and plans.
